Hook - Dry fly #10 – 14 or Grub Hook #12-16
Thread –Black 6/0
Tail (optional)– Deer hair, pheasant tail or calf tail
Ribbing – Fine copper wire
Body – Yellow Dubbing
Thorax – Orange dubbing
Wing – Light coloured deer or elk hair

Tie thread on hook. Wrap back to the hook bend.

Tie in a thin tail. 6 – 8 pieces of deer hair.  The length should be about the width of the gape of the hook.

 Tie in the copper wire.

Thinly dub the body of fly with yellow dubbing. The body should be Ύ of the hook shank.

Rib the body with 3 - 5 turns of copper wire

Select a clump of deer hair.

The flat width should be about the length of the hook shank.

Stack in hair stacker.

Tie down the deer hair on top of hook shank.
Use 4-5 close turns of thread.
Make sure the deer hair does not spin around the hook.

Place a few turns of thread in front of the deer hair to help hold the wing off the hook shank.

Take thread back behind the wing.

Trim the deer hair.

Optionally place a drop of head cement on the cut off deer hair butts.

Add orange dubbing to thread and dub the thorax. Add just a little in front of the wing, between the wing and the hook eye.

Whip finish and tie off.

For best fishing results, tie this fly onto the tippet with a loop knot.
