The Labor Government is back with a sweeping majority and Steve Bracks has promised to govern for 'every street' and 'every suburb'.

Greens campaign gets off to a flying start - on Monday 18th November the local Greens candidates launched a big green kite over “Federation Park” to mark the start of their election campaign. Many locals turned out to watch, delighted by the Greens' gesture of support for their campaign to save the land at Riley Street. More

The issue
Oakleigh South is a south-eastern Melbourne suburb. The Education Department plan to sell off a big chunk of the Oakleigh South Primary School grounds for residential development. See map

The local community headed by the “Federation Park Committee” have been battling for 4 years to save this precious, irreplaceable open space as public parkland for local sport and recreation; for quality of life; for a healthy local environment; for today's kids and for future generations. More
