Ms Polly Morgan
candidate for the Upper House Province of Waverley

C/ Australian Democrats
62 Wellington Pd
East Melbourne 3002

On Wednesday November 19th the Federation Park Committee sent a letter to Ms Morgan asking the questions shown at right. We will post any answer we receive in this section.

Ms Morgan will be standing against the Labor candidate Mr John Lenders, the Greens candidate Heather Welsh and the Liberal candidate Denise McGill.

Our letter asked:
As you are .... a candidate in the coming state election, on behalf of the local community we would like to ask you the following questions:

  • What is your current position with regard to this issue?
  • If elected what action will you take to assist us in securing this land as public parkland?
We have not yet received a reply to our letter from Ms Morgan.

Mr Daniel Berk
candidate for Clayton

In the local paper The Leader Mr Berk was quoted as saying “In the long term... the Democrats.. are interested in looking at ways of reducing the urban sprawl and that means we need to give some consideration to housing development within the metropolitan areas, but at the same time those developments need to have facilities that give residents quality of life, such as parks”.

The paper reports Mr Berk as saying that the “long campaign by residents to save Federation Park showed how important green space was in Oakleigh South”.
