I receive lot of e-mail from many Somalis in the United States and Canada looking for their friends, relatives in Australia. I managed to locate some of them and this pleases me a lot. However, to make the task of locating your Somali family members or friends in Australia easier please provide the following information:

Nick Names, the name of the home town, the name of the school or college they attended or any other information that you think will be helpful.

One of these days I will setup a database (which contains the Somalis in Australia that I know of) that you can search. Obviously this will require some coding and lengthy discussion with the Internet Service Provider, but I'm confident this facility will be available soon (well let us say before the end of the year).

The following are some of the children books you can receive from the Somali Cultural Association. If you are interested in any of these please drop us a line.

  1. Hungry But Free - Somali/English.
  2. Old Women and Pumpkin - Somali
  3. Fox and Crocodile
  4. Somali-Jiddu - English Dictionary

We have also a very colorful A2 Map of Somalia. All the names and the notes on the Map are in Somali. This is the first Map of its kind. It shows the old regions, districts that existed before Said Barre as well as those invented by Barre's regime. This Map highlights all the historical places, ports and it also provides a short note on the history of Somalia.
