International Resource Centre opens today

The International Resource Centre designed to provide facilities for the

needy children of one country is scheduled to be declared open today at

a ceremony to be held at the Sri Lanka Community Development Foundation

Auditorium, Rajamaha Viharaya, Bellanwila, states a Press release by

Vasantha Jayasinghe Secretary (SCATS) Sri Lanka.

 

This is a collaborative effort of the Sri Lankan Study Center for the

Advancement of Technology and Social Welfare (SCATS) based in Australia

and the Community Development Foundation of Sri Lanka facilitated by

SCATS (Sri Lanka branch).

The Sri Lanka Community Development Foundation was established under the

stewardship of Ven. Dr. Bellanwila Wimalarathna Nayaka Thera, had been a

leading non profit organization, which had been in the forefront of

technical education in the area. It has been providing training to youth

in diverse fields like house wiring computer education, draftsmanship

etc. for the last 30 years which has benefited many a youth to enter in

to the job market. The nayaka Thera has now decided to expand the

activities of this organization to the remote areas of our country where

the youth in large numbers are awaiting the services of our organization

to lead them to the modern society.

The Sri Lanka Study Centre for the Advancement of Technology & Social

Welfare on the other hand is an organization of Sri Lankans domiciled in

Australia. Leading Sri Lanka technocrats and others who have a heart for

those needy Sri Lankans have joined together within this organization.

International Resource Centre will serve to expand our activities by

providing necessary information to Sri Lankans in other countries who

would like to join our efforts specially to alleviate the suffering of

needy children. Necessary facilities would be provided including

Internet. A web site to provide all information within us to needy

expatriate community would be created. The training facilities for the

young on computer education and information technology would be the key

areas envisaged by this centre. The necessary equipment including the

computer hardware would be supplied by SCATS while the Community

development foundation would take care of the infrastructure facilities

including space necessary for the purpose.

The international resources centre with modern facilities and our web

site would provide an opportunity to broaden our humanitarian efforts to

help the needy in Sri Lanka. These facilities would enable all Sri

Lankans living in other countries to direct their efforts to alleviate

the suffering of the poor masses of our country.

The partnership program between the Sri Lanka Community Development

Foundation and SCATS had resulted in this establishment of the

International Resources Centre.

The inauguration would be graced by Karunasena Kodithuwakku the Minister

of Education, Cultural Affairs, Milinda Moragoda, Minister of Science &

Technology, and Deputy Minister of Planning, Gamini Lokuge, Minister of

Tourism, Susil Premajayantha former Minister of Education and other

invitees.
