Foster Care - Student Assistance Programme
Co-ordinated by SCATS Australia & SCATS Sri Lanka.

Australia and its branch in Sri Lanka, co-ordinate all aspects of this programme and currently available only in selected areas(North Central Province) as a pilot project. The project will be extended to other areas in the near future.]
SCATS Australia & Sri Lanka publish lists of selected students on merits after a careful selection procedure. If someone is willing to foster any student listed, he or she may need to contact SCATS project co-ordinatrors to obtain an application form. Once an agreement is reached between the participant and SCATS, a formal letter of acceptance will be forwarded with more information about the nominated child and bank account details.
Funding period is decided by the participant and it could be one year or more or till selected student complete his or her education. while SCATS does not handle financial transaction, participant can directly send money to nominated account. However, SCATS Sri Lanka representatives and the Principal of the relevant school manage the life cycle of the
funding process to ensure that the money is spent on child's education and other related items essential to the child's well. A quartely progress report will be prepared by SCATS Sri Lanka and will be forwarded to the person who fosters the child(or children].
It is proposed that a monthly contribution of $20 or more could be remitted directly to the nomnitaed account of the child . Participants can opt to remain anonymous if they wish to do so.
If the sponsor find it difficult to continue with the contribution in pursuance of the agreement due to unforseen circumstances, the sponsorship can be suspended, transferred, or terminated by notifying project co-ordinators.
