SUNBURY LITTLE ATHLETICS CENTRE: OBJECTIVES 2009-10
The Sunbury Little Athletics
Centre adopts a 7 point strategy to ensure the ongoing viability and
development of the Centre. The objectives of the Centre are to:
1. Improve our
officials and program.
2. Increase
participation of athletes and parents.
3. Build our coaching
capability to develop our athletes.
4. Promote our Centre
and increase membership.
5. Provide funds for
the development of our Centre through sponsorship, fundraising and grants.
6. Improve our
facilities, environment and equipment.
7. Improve our systems
and the way the committee functions.
TRACK & FIELD COMPETITION DETAILS
Normal Centre competition is held Saturday mornings at
the Eric Boardman Reserve, Mitchells Lane, Sunbury.
All children should be out in the high jump area,
ready to participate in the competition warm-up at 8.30am. The warm-up
sessions are conducted prior to any competition by a qualified coach.
During the season it is necessary for the Centre to
have competitions, which are classified as twilight meetings that start at
5.30pm. These meetings are listed in the Centre's
Season Calendar listed
in your Handbook.
On wet
days a decision will be made by Officials setting up that morning as to
whether we continue or cancel.
On very hot days the Committee will decide which events
will be run from the program of the day. We will try to have athletes all
doing an equal amount of events for points scoring purposes.
The success of Little Athletics relies heavily on
parent participation. A roster system is used to determine officials for
each meeting. This is displayed outside the clubhouse with duties include
timekeeping, measuring and recording. To run the program efficiently, at
least one Committee Member is designated to each event with a number of
parent helpers rostered to help run the event. Further volunteers are often
needed due to absence/illness etc.
Please see a Committee Member should you
wish to help on a more regular basis; this would be greatly appreciated.
