WELCOME TO SEASON 2007-2008
Our goals this season are as always,
to provide the opportunity for our athletes to have great fun, grow
friendships, improve fitness and achieve new personal bests in a safe and
family friendly environment.
This year we are keen to keep growing
and consolidating improvements we have made in past seasons. An exciting
development is the connection of our watering system to recycled water
enabling our track and infield to be watered through the summer; no more
dust bowls!!! We hope that this is completed before the season commences.
We are aiming for maximum athlete
participation in all events, both local and Regional and will once again
cover the cost of entry for the Regional Relay competition.
Some changes will be made this year to
improve athlete and parent safety. In particular, we will introduce a
marshalling area for all events and age groups and work hard to keep the
infield free of spectators. This will enable all athletes to marshal for
an event in an orderly fashion, rather than wander across the infield in
dribs and drabs.
Our reward and recognition programs
will once again emphasise achievement of personal bests and
participation/attendance, whilst also celebrating achievements such as
season best performances and new records.
Our biggest challenge this year is to
improve our capability to develop our athletes. We are trying to bolster
the number of coaches so we can build a learning environment. If you
have an interest in coaching, please don't hesitate to talk to any of our
committee members. The Centre will reimburse the cost of attending a one
day Introduction to Coaching course.
Please don't hesitate to get
involved and make suggestions to improve our Centre. We thank you for
becoming part of the Centre in season 2007-2008.
