113 athletes competed today at
Boardman Reserve, the feature event being steeple chase.
Results are now available.
Next week (28 Nov), we will be
running
Program 10 which will feature hurdles for all age groups on the
front straight.

Just a reminder that 28 Nov is a
"Bring-a Friend" Day. If you have any friends who want to have a
try of little athletics, feel free to bring them along.
On Sunday (29 Nov) the
Region Multi
Event will be run a Kilmore. Good luck to all Sunbury athletes
competing.
Congratulations to all who competed
in the Relay Region competition last Sunday. Results are
also now available.
There were some great performances
by the Sunbury teams, in particular, the U9B 4x100m team not only won
the final but also broke the Northern Metro Region record with a time of
1.02.97.
Overall, 10 Sunbury teams have progressed to
the State Championships to be held at Olympic Park on 13 Dec - good luck
to all!

10 Nov 09:
This Sunday, the Region Relays will
be conducted at the Diamond Valley athletics
track at Willinda Park, Greensborough.
The
Event Program is attached. Details of
parking at the Willinda Park venue is also available.
Our Team Managers will advise
athletes about what events they will be competing in over the next
day or so.
Relay training is planned
for this Thursday night at Boardman Reserve, commencing at 5.00pm,
and each athlete will get a personalized pack with their events
listed and general information about the competition day.
If athletes cannot make
training on Thursday night, they can collect their information packs
on Saturday.

As
an extra bonus, some elite Australian athletes (Madeleine
Pape &
Alwyn Jones) will be attending our Region Relays on Sunday
between 1pm and 2pm. They will be accompanied by Athletics
Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Nick Honey, and Programs
Manager, Jade Borella.

Yesterday, approx 240 little
athletes from the Sunbury and Coburg Centres competed in the 2nd
Coburg-Sunbury Challenge at Boardman Reserve, Sunbury.
In warm conditions, athletes
competed in the right spirit, in what turned out to be a most successful
day.
Coburg, for the second year running,
accumulated the most Centre points to retain the Coburg-Sunbury
Challenge Cup.
Congratulations to the Coburg Centre
- we look forward to competing again at your venue next season.

134 Sunbury little athletes competed
in warm and humid conditions today. Results
are now available.
4x100m relays were run today.
These results are also now available.
Seven new age records were established and/or broken.
Congratulations to all athletes
involved.
Another record was broken today in
the U15G Javelin. Rachel Northover threw a distance of 21.19m to
create a new benchmark for the U15 girls. Well done Rachel.
The Coburg-Sunbury Challenge is on
next Sunday, 8 Nov.

IGA are a major sponsor of Little
Athletics. They are currently holding a docket competition with
prizes totalling $15,000. So if you shop at IGA keep your dockets
and bring them along to athletics there will be a box in the clubhouse
for all your dockets. The more dockets we receive the greater
chance we have to win some money for the club.

cancelled due to an unduly wet track from the rain over the last week.

U16) will be marshalled at 8.15am for an 8.30am start. All other

Yesterday, 133 little athletes
competed at our first competition for the season.
Our new timing gates were used for
the first time and everything ran smoothly with the kids (and officials)
coming to grips with the new system very quickly.
The golden rule with the timing
gates is that athletes need to stay in their allotted lanes.
Prior to the first event, the new
timing gates were officially opened by our Team Manager, Steve Rodwell,
and the U6 and U7 little athletes - see below.
Results
for yesterday are now available. Information about next week's
competition (10 Oct) will be provided soon.

newsletter for the season is now available.

The first competition day of the
track and field season is on next Saturday (3 Oct), commencing at 0830
sharp at Boardman Reserve.
We will be running
Event
Program 9. Each age group will have 4 events, except for
the U6 boys and girls who will have 3 events plus a session of On Track.
70m, 100m and 200m sprints will
feature with Long Jump, Triple Jump, Discus, Javelin and Shot Put in the
field events.

Recently Brennan Wilkins, Cody
Rodwell & Riley Dinsdale represented Sunbury Little Athletics Centre at
the first ever Little Athletics Sandown Relays competing as the Sunbury
Speed Demons. Congratulations to the boys finishing first in their
age group. It was a great day and a very well organised event by
VLAA. Here is a picture of the boys with their sashes.

Now that the Cross Country Season is
complete, preparations are being made for the commencement of the Track
and Field Season commencing on 3 Oct 09, only 8 weeks away. The
Season Calendar
is now available.
Some highlights of the upcoming
season:
-
The season will consist of 20
competition days including 4 twilight events,
-
The program allows little
athletes to compete in all Region and State events,
-
The early competitions will
prepare little athletes for the Region and State Relay events,
-
On 7 Nov, little athletes from
the Coburg Centre will be visiting Sunbury to compete,
-
On 6 Mar, Sunbury LAC will be
conducting a Medal Competition, where gold, silver and bronze medals
will be up for grabs in each event, and
-
On 27 Mar, the Sunbury
Championship and Presentation Day will be held.
Sunbury LAC will commence the
registration process in September, with two registration mornings being
planned for 12 and 19 Sep. Register before the commencement of the
season proper to take advantage of the early bird rates!!
