Wendy Smith is the State Member of Parliament for Silvan Province and is Shadow Minister for Small Business. She was elected to Parliament in March 1996.
Her qualifications
include a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne (majoring in Classical
studies and Archaeology) and a General Nursing Certificate from Adelaide Children's
Hospital.

Wendy has initiated community projects in her electorate which include:
1. Silvan Foundation: provision of scholarships for students in the outer eastern region who need financial assistance to stay at school - scholarship pays for uniforms, books and school fees.
2. Youth employment scheme which has found jobs for 160 young people
3. "Flowering Investment" - a report on the cut flower industry largely based in the Dandenong Ranges aimed at growing business and exports.
