The Police Stables

Griffith Street, Stawell

The Police Stables, Stawell
Built about 1869
These stables were built about 1869 for the Police Superintendent whose house was across the laneway.

The stables were very well built - even after the bricks were removed to make a doorway, little movement occurred.

The Historical Society has a copy of the plans of some of the Police buildings, and the stable and four horse stalls are shown.

From the back lane can be seen four wooden louvres - probably original.
