Camp Hotel

After operating in Longfield Street for seventeen years the Stawell-News
of 1st June 1878 reports that "the hotel was completely destroyed by fire
yesterday morning. Shortly after 6.00 am the flames were discovered and
the firemen at once turned out. Before they could reach the spot, however,
the whole of the building was reduced to ashes. The butcher's shop
adjoining, occupied by Mr. Siddall, was also partially destroyed."
Mr. Siddall's butcher's shop was rebuilt but not the Camp Hotel.
