Our role in the community

Storm Damage

When storms occur, SES volunteers respond to provide temporary repairs to damaged buildings, ensuring further damage is prevented and that the resident's safety is protected. They also assist in removal of fallen trees that represent a hazard to the community.

Floods

During flooding, it is SES volunteers who help evacuate those stranded by flood waters, coordinate property protection and assist in the removal of water from flooded areas.

General Rescue

Together with local CFA Brigades, SES reponds to rescue incidents ranging from industrial accidents to children trapped by playground equipment.

Building Damage

SES volunteers provide stabilisation of buildings damaged by vehical collision, explosion and fire. They are trained as multi-agency Urban Search and Rescue Category 1 Operators, and are avalable to respond to the most serious of incidents as well as more routine events.

Lighting

Emergency lighting is vital at incidents such as vehicle collisions, fires and crime scenes. SES has a range of specialist emergency lighting equipment and members practice the rapid setup of this equipment in the most difficult olf circumstances. The same equipment is used to support local community events such as the Weerama Festival and Carols by Candlelight at the Werribee Park Mansion.

Search

SES volunteers provide search teams to assist Victoria Police in searching for missing persons and evidence at crime scenes.
