When you join the Eltham VICSES Unit you will begin your training. Training to be able to respond to a wide range of emergencies is something that is ongoing and a challenge. You will progress from one rescue field to another building your skills and experience as you go. All members are required to attend 60% of the scheduled training sessions as a minimum.

What you put into training is what you get out of it! Training is essential for the safety of the rescue crew and the people we are rescuing. Our courses are all competency based and you will receive a nationally recognised certificate. The Australian Council of State Emergency Services (ACSES) is currently developing new courses for all VICSES Units to use around Australia. Workplace trainers and assessors are used for all training and assessment tasks.

Training Schedule

The Eltham Unit maintains a busy schedule with training sessions every Monday night. Regional training courses, such as the chainsaw course and the land search and rescue course are held on various weekends throughout the year.

Our training schedule for the rest of 2007 is currently being redeveloped.
