A Harp trap was located beside the east branch of the Ovens River in the grounds of Feathertop Chalet (36o53'40"E; 147o03'55"S, alt. 517m.). The trap was set each evening of 18th to 20th and 22nd to 24th January 2006 and checked each following morning.

Two bats were present on 19th. These were used to demonstrate characteristics, measurement and identification of bats. Both were identified as male Vespadelus vulturnus by size colour and penis shape. The forearm length of one specimen was 30.4 mm. The other bat became agitated and was released without measurement.

On the morning of 23rd three bats were present, all male Vespadelus vulturnus. Forearm lengths were 31.9, 32.2, and 32.8 (this specimen having an off-white tragus).
