A Visual Arts Forum was held on the 25th of June 1993 at the Wimmera Street Community Center Stawell to discuss the formation of an Art and Cultural Center for Stawell. Because of the positive outcome of the meeting the Association was registered as an Incorporated Group on the 31st of June 1993.
The Association gained the use of the Stawell Railway Station Building on the 20th of March 1995.
After a lot of hard work, working bees and lots of paint the Gallery was opened to the public on the 28th of March 1995.
The Railway Station is on the Historic Register G 356. A beautiful red brick two storied building near Stawell's Central Park, the home of the Stawell Easter Gift.
