Swan Bay Environment Association Web Site Launched

Doug Miller, Web Designer 16th August 2006

The Swan Bay website is now officially live following its launch on 27th July 2006.

After an excellent selection of pizzas and wine which were enjoyed by all,  Mark Rodrigue from Parks Victoria gave a thorough account of the environmental importance of Swan Bay, and particularly the importance of groups such as the Swan Bay Environment Association, in representing the bay and safeguarding its environmental future. Mark noted the importance of the web site in providing a method of disseminating educational and promotional material to a potentially global audience and for providing a means of communication between the Association's members and the general public.

The web site was officially lauched by Mark, by the ceremonial 'Pressing of the Enter Key'.

Doug Miller then gave a tour of the web site and some of its features. He thanked the many contributors of material for the web site, notably Jill Warneke, who supplied much of the archival material and lists of species of plants and birds, Rosalind Smallwood who has contributed many excellent photographs of local plants and Faye Blainey and John Ellis who contributeds some of the photos.

Doug mentioned that with such good material, the aim was to make the web design 'simple and clean' so as not to divert too much attention away from the contents. He said that with such good contributors and their materials, the website 'practically wrote
itself'.

Thank you to Faye Blainey for allowing us use of the photographs on this page and to the Borough of Queenscliffe for allowing us to use their facilities for the web launch.
