WELCOME

South Barwon Athletic Club Inc. (SBAC) was formed in 1965. Membership is open to children from six to fourteen. All children compete for fun, fitness and enjoyment and are encouraged to participate regardless of their athletic capability.

Lulu Crowhurst set a new Victorian High Jump Record for u/10 girls - 142cm - congratulations Lulu

Many SBAC athletes competed at the State Championships and performed very well - well done to all of you

If any parents are interested in joining the Committee or learning more about becoming a Chief, we would be very happy to provide further information as to what is involved.

NEW Club Records

Congratulations to Alannah Kreidl who on 17/3/12 broke the SBAC record for the girls U/14 Long Jump. Alannah jumped 4.70m. The previous record of 4.55m was held by Ashlee Kent set 12/3/05.
Well Done Alannah.

Congratulations to Oliver Loughnan who on, 17/3/12, broke the SBAC record for the boys U/10 800m. Oliver ran a time of 2:34.5. This record was previously held by Andrew Synoradski 2:39:30 set on 12/3/11. Great Job Oliver

Congratulations to Mitchell Johns who on, 17/3/12, broke his existing SBAC record for the boys U/11 Shot Put. Mitchell recorded a new time of 10.09. Three records in one day Mitchell WOW!!

Congratulations to Mitchell Johns (again) who on 17/3/12 broke his existing SBAC record for the boys u/11 Long Jump - Mitchell jumped a new distance of 4.40m - his previous record of 4.37 was set 21/2/12. Mitchell you've had an awesome season.

Congratulations to Mitchell Johns who on, 17/3/12, broke his own SBAC record, for the boys U/11 60m hurdles. Mitchell ran a new time of 10.20 - his previous record set in Dec last year was 10.26. Another great race Mitchell!

Congratulations to Jack Hayes (again) who on, 17/3/12 chipped a bit more off his best effort for the 300m hurdles. Jack set a new SBAC record time of 43.64, bettering his previous time of 45.11 set on the 18/2/12. Great way to finish your little aths career - such a tough race the 300m hurdles - well done Jack.

Congratulations to Lilly Moore (again) who on, 17/3/12, broke the SBAC record for the girls U/9 80m hurdles. Lilly ran a new time of 14.33. You just keep improving Lilly - keep up the good work

Congratulations to Lilly Moore who on, 10/3/12, broke the SBAC record (which she currently holds) for the girls U/9 80m hurdles. Lilly ran a new time of 14.47. Great job Lilly

Congratulations to Ben Hawkins who on, 10/3/12, broke the SBAC record for the boys U/15 Discus. Ben currently holds the SBAC record for this event which he set earlier this year - 45.21m - on 21/2/12. Ben recorded a new distance of 49.50m. Well Done Ben - a great way to round off your last season of Little aths

Congratulations to Cooper Gleeson who on, 10/3/12, broke the SBAC record for the boys U/8 800m (again). Cooper ran a time of 2:47:37. breaking his own record (2:52:17) set a couple of weeks ago. Great Job Cooper, you just keep improving!

Congratulations to Lulu Crowhurst who on, 3/3/12, broke the SBAC record for the girls U/10 100m. Lulu ran a time of 15.14secs. This record was previously held by Emily Day set 10/3/02 and Megan Smith set 20/11/04 with a time of 15.2. Well Done Lulu you are having a good season.

Congratulations to Cooper Gleeson who on, 3/3/12, broke the SBAC record for the boys U/8 400m. Cooper ran a time of 1:16:07. This record was previously held by James Bisinella 1:17:06 set on 19/2/2000 - Wow Cooper you've broken another long standing record - you're on fire!!!!

Congratulations to Cooper Gleeson who on, 25/2/12, broke the SBAC record for the boys U/8 800m. Cooper ran a time of 2:52:17. This record was previously held by Nicholas Mandic 2:58:8 set on 17/11/2001 - Wow Cooper you broke a long standing record - keep up the good work.

Congratulations to Lulu Crowhurst who on, 18/2/12, broke the SBAC record for the girls U/10 High Jump. Lulu jumped 1.38m. This record was previously held by Megan Smith set 26/2/05 - height 1.34m. THIS RECORD ALSO BROKE THE CENTRE RECORD of 1.36m held by Nicole Clough set 1/2/03 - Well done Lulu - what a great effort - did you know Nicole was a great jumper she held all girls high jump records at the Geelong Centre from u/9 to u/15. I wonder if you will beat her u/11 record next season - let's see!

Congratulations to Lilly Moore who on, 18/2/12, broke the SBAC record for the girls U/9 60m hurdles. Lilly ran a time of 11.08. This record was previously held by Sam Cameron and Isobel Lamden, set 2003 with a time of 11.5 Great job Lilly - we should note that Georgia Ellery also broke the exisiting record, but Lilly was that bit quicker on the day - keep up the good work Georgia.

Congratulations to Jack Hayes who on, 18/2/12, broke the SBAC record for the boys U/15 300m hurdles. Jack ran a time of 45.11 to beat his own record of 45.65 which he set November last year. Well Done Jack - a great way to finish up Little Aths!

Congratulations to Mitchell Johns who on, 18/2/12, broke the SBAC record for the boys U/11 Shot Put. Mitchell recorded a distance of 9.93m. This record was previously held by Tom McCartin with a distance of 9.34 set 11/12/10. Keep up the good work Mitchell - you are doing a fantastic job!

Congratulations to Mitchell Johns who on, 21/1/12, broke the SBAC record for the boys U/11 80m hurdles. Mitchell ran a time of 13.33. GREAT JOB. This record was previously held by Thomas Kingston with a time of 13.7 on 22/3/2005. NB - Mitchell also holds the record for the 60m hurdles

Congratulations to Mitchell Johns who on 21/1/12 broke the SBAC record for the boys U/11 Long Jump - (TWO RECORDS ON THE ONE DAY MITCHELL, WOO HOO Fantstic effort). Mitchell jumped 4.37m. That's 22cm further than a very long standing record - great job. The previous record, 4.15m was held by I. Frigerio 1967/68 and Lachlan Boseley 7/3/2009.
It should also be noted that on the same day Andrew Synoradzki equalled the old record.

Congratulations to Oaklee Brereton who on, 4/2/12, equalled the SBAC record for the girls U/12 High Jump. Oaklee jumped 1.45m and now shares this record with Megan smith who jumped 1.45m on 4/11/06. Well Done

STATE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - BENDIGO - 24th & 25th MARCH 2012
Congratulations to those South Barwon athetes who qualified or progressed though (based on times) to the State Championships to be held in Bendigo in March.

REGIONAL TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 18 & 19 FEB 2012

IT'S NEARLY CHRISTMAS
Yes, it is that time of the year again – Christmas!  and to celebrate we will be having a Sausage sizzle on Saturday 17 December 2011. During the morning, all athletes are invited to grab a sausage and a can of drink to celebrate the end of the year. If any parents would like to lend a hand with the BBQ, it would be greatly appreciated.

GEELONG LITTLE ATHLETICS CENTRE - 'PB' DAY - Saturday 10th December 2011
The Scheduled Handicap Day could not be run on the 10th December as planned due to too few results in all programs because of event cancellations, due to rain. As an alternative to the Handicap Day a PB Day will be offered. Based on previous years, a PB Day usually gives athletes the opportunity to try for a PB in their favoriate event/s, so instead of only getting two jumps or throws, you can try as many times as you like. It is assumed the same format will be followed this year.
Parents rostered on for duty will still be expected to fill these roles on the day.

REGIONAL RELAYS - SATURDAY 10 DECEMBER 2011.

GOOD LUCK to all South Barown athletes who will be competing in the Regional Relays this Saturday. Be sure to let me know how you go!
This list does not include the Under 12 and Under 15 Squads which I have not yet been notified about.

GEELONG LITTLE ATHLETICS CENTRE - MULTI EVENT DAY - Sat 29TH OCT
NO NEED to nominate to particiate. The Geelong Centre Multi-Event Day replaces the regular program for the day. If your child/children have never particiapted in a multi-event day before, I feel confident in saying they will enjoy the day. GEELONG LITTLE ATHLETICS CENTRE - RELAY CHAMPIONSHIP DAY - Sat 5th Nov
You MUST pre nominate if you wish to represent South Barwon Little Athletic Club against other clubs at the Geelong Centre. Nomination forms were due back last week.

We are also looking for parents to organise a Realy Team on the day.

Last year our Boys U/8 Medley team broke a Centre record - I wonder if that team are getting together again this year!!

TRACKIES, HOODIES AND T-SHIRTS - NEW CLUB 'optional' UNIFORMS - not for competing.
The committee has asked Ghanda to design some 'optiona'l uniforms for our club.
