Volunteering
SAIL student numbers grow every single week as people fly in from
various parts of Northern Africa. At present, we are seeking tutors for SAIL
students of all ages. These tutors need to be available each week from mid-February until December and from either 10.30am – 12pm or or 11am until 12:30pm (depending on the campus) on Saturdays.
If you are interested in becoming a SAIL volunteer please follow
the instructions here
If you are not available on Saturdays, you can also join SAIL's team
of volunteer librarians, cooks, administrators or public relations representatives.
Busy hands and enthusiastic people are always very welcome.
Donating money
Education is a vital part of the successful resettlement of the Sudanese
refugee community. The purpose of the SAIL Bursary Program is to provide
the funds for school text books for Sudanese refugees who attend SAIL
and are completing the final years of high school. The SAIL Program views
this as an essential part of encouraging SAILors to stay and succeed at
school in these challenging later years. Becoming a SAIL Bursary Provider
requires a once-off or annual donation of AUD$300. This donation will
cover all text book expenses for an individual SAIL student attending
high school. For most SAIL families this is a prohibitive amount.
To be a SAIL Bursary Provider simply complete and return this
form.
All SAIL Bursary Program donations are fully tax deductible.
Donating money in the name of another is the best way of giving twice. You
are giving to the recipient of the money and you are giving it in the name
of a person who you believe is worth honouring. To donate money to SAIL
in your own name or in the name of someone else please download & send
the form located here in .doc
or .pdf
format. All donations to the SAIL Program are fully tax deductible.
Donating goods
SAIL does not provide material goods directly to the Sudanese community. However, we do strongly encourage donations to the most recent arrivals to the Sudanese community through the Sudanese Settlement Centre
Please deliver goods to 30A Pickett Street, Footscray or call Judie on 96879577 to arrange an alternative arrangement.
