Variety - The Children's Charity
David Rayner, from the Variety Club, is presented with a donation of $500 by President Tony to assist his organisation with their efforts in helping disadvantaged children.
The Children's Charity, the Variety Club, started over 75 years ago in a theatre and has used fun and entertainment to attract record amounts of money year after year.
David Rayner gave the club a run down on the Victorian Variety Club Bash activities. Paul Hogan was Australia ’s first president of the Variety Club.
The club never gives away donation amounts but rather applications for assistance are carefully investigated by Variety before a grant is made, commonly for equipment to make life much easier for the disadvantaged child.
The Variety Club and Brachoff Trust have assisted in the purchase of some 500 'Sunshine Coaches' giving children a chance to be mobile.
Victorian Variety Club raised 1.35 million last year and hopes to do better this year.
