District Governor's Visit
DDG David Yap & Jan

District Governor David Yap and his wife Jan visited the club last Monday. David wanted to express his aims for the coming year and acknowledge the club's own representatives on District 9790 Committees, Gordon Chan and Mike Stansbury. Together with the theme this Rotary year of “Service Above Self”, DG David also desired clubs to promote 'Harmony and Friendship'.

David gave part of the address from Rotary International president Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar to District Governors setting out the aims of Rotary. D.G. David Yap continued on with local aims and for the clubs to return to basics of Rotary.

Water management in developing countries is a theme that our district will be following. Along with literacy which will help 3rd world countries.

As a club we can not achieve this if the membership of our club does not increase. As a club, Pres Tony has set a target of one new member per portfolio making 5 increases in membership this coming year. The expansion of the 'Youth Exchange Program' is also to be promoted within the district.

DG David's wife Jan then spoke on Interplast Australia which is a non profit company incorporated in Victoria , founded in 1983 as a partnership between the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and Rotary District 980. Jan has organised a raffle to raise money for 'Interplast Australia ', tickets offered to members. The draw will take place at the District 9790 Conference to be held in Wodonga 31/3/06 to 2/4/06.
