The
cold wintry days that lashed St Kilda in July saw the Roomers
Magazine personnel move from their St Kilda Library Community
room to Christchurch in Acland St for their first many voices
recording on CD.
The improvised recording studio in the house of Our Lord, without
doubt will reach out to the many hearts and minds of the people
of the life and times in St Kilda.
The unique stonewall acoustics of the studio was controlled by
a grey blanket, hung from the door way and was the only barrier
between the operator, Laurie, and doorman, Eddie. After each recording
session, Eddie raised his hand with a firm shush, “recording!”,
while the other Roomers Magazine personnel sat and waited their
turn and practiced their lines.
