Stanford (RAAF 18711) saw active service as a corporal in the Islands and after a series of farming and retail ventures established a poultry farm in Springvale. He was active in the Springvale Methodist Church and its tennis club. He later became manager of the Poultrymen's Co-operative Society.

He retired to Drouin and is buried in Drouin Cemetery.
