General Notes: Samuel aged 23 with his wife Mary Amelia Maria (nee Jurd) aged 23 and their son Samuel George departed from Plymouth England on 5th September 1852 on the vessel "Victory". The ship arrived at Geelong Victoria on 24th December 1852. They are listed as having sailed on their own account. Samuel's occupation on the shipping list is an Ag Lab presume this is an (Agriculture Labourer), he is listed as coming from Hertford and his religion was Church of England and that he could read and write.
Samuel and his family are listed on the passenger list as Rowbotham.
In Australia his wife Mary seems to be known as Elizabeth and is listed on her death certificate as MARY ANNE ELIZABETH ROWBOTTOM, have a copy of their marriage certificate and she is named as MARY AMELIA MARIA JURD. Also have a copy of a newspaper article in which Samuel warns traders about giving his wife Elizabeth Rowbottom any credit. This was published in the Belfast Banner on 19th march 1859.

I hereby caution all persons against giving credit to my wife, Elizabeth Rowbottom, as I will not be accountable for any debts which she may contract.
