Knox City Council Minutes
The following is a brief summary of Rowville-Lysterfield issues discussed at the meeting of Knox City Council held on 27 September 2005.
Item 4.1 Councillor Cicchiello presented a petition with 198 signatures on behalf of users of the Park Ridge Preschool, Play Group and Maternal and Child Health Centre in Rowville.
Item 4.1 Councillor Cicchiello presented a petition with 82 signatures on behalf of the Eildon Park Cricket Club and the Rowville Junior Football Club seeking Council’s support in relation to the redevelopment of the pavilion and surrounding grounds at Eildon Park.
Item 5.2.1 Councillor Cicchiello was delighted to advise that the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Bergins and Stud Roads had commenced.
Item 5.2.2 Councillor Wakeling was pleased to advise that a number of issues with connectivity of bike paths in Rowville had been resolved.
Item 6.8 Application for 31 Lot Residential Subdivision at 955 Wellington Road, Rowville.
The subdivision seeks to create 31 allotments ranging from 500sqm to 625sqm together with an extension to Abbin Road and the construction of two new courts to be named Swaran Close and Abbin Court. Entry to the estate will be via the existing Abbin Road (that runs off Tirhatuan Drive).
Council approved the application subject to 39 conditions.
Item 9.3 Youth Plan 20052009
The Plan has been developed with the purpose of providing Council with guidelines for improving the quality of life for young people in the Knox community. Council endorsed the Plan and agreed to write to the State and Federal Governments requesting ongoing funding for a Youth Program Worker and a Youth and Family Community Development Worker.
Item 12.2 Works Report (as at 9 September 2005)
Stamford Park
Valuers’ conference held to pursue negotiation of land value. Unable to reach agreement legal consideration underway to pursue a disputed claim. Consultants appointed to give advice on development master planning.
New footpath construction program
Heany Park Rd (west side) adjacent to Pets Memorial Gardens. Consultation complete and quote being sought from Knox Construction Group.
Flood mitigation works and drainage Bergner Crt, Lysterfleld Construction to commence mid February ’06. – Park Ridge Reserve. Contek Constructions due to commence works 6 Sept. ’05.
New bicycle / shared paths Corhanwarrabul Creek - Verbal advice received from Parks Victoria that funding application is likely to be unsuccessful. Project likely to be abandoned this year. – Waterford Valley, Awaiting claim from Primelife for part completion of shared path from Karoo Rd to Clubhouse. Shared pathway approximately 50% complete.
Fulham Road traffic lights at Peppertree and Stud Park
Balance of Council funds carried forward. ING (Stud Park owner) has confirmed its contribution to the project for 2005/06.
