Knox City Council Minutes

The following is a brief summary of Rowville-Lysterfield issues discussed at the meeting of Knox City Council held on 25 October 2005.

Petition. Cr Van De Vreede presented a petition with 28 signatures on behalf of residents of the The Lakes estate objecting to a proposal to redevelop the entrance to the estate.

Item 8.1 Stud Road Smartbus

In April 2005 the State Government announced that it is planning to spend $28.6 million on the Outer Eastern (Stud Road) SmartBus route that will fully run by 2008 between Ringwood and Frankston.

Council agreed to write to VicRoads and the Department of Infrastructure seeking to have the project completed before 2008 and recommending modifications to the planning with regard to dedicated bus lanes and use by cyclists. Council also requested that greater consideration be given to assist passengers to cross Stud Road, particularly near Timbertop Drive and Seebeck Road.

Item 8.4 Proposed traffic lights at the intersection of Timbertop Drive and Stud Road

In their discussions with VicRoads, Council officers also advocated the need for traffic lights at the corner of Seebeck Road and Stud Road.

VicRoads advised that the intersections of Stud Road with Timbertop Drive and Seebeck Road do not rank highly on a state-wide basis for traffic signals.

Council agreed to write to VicRoads seeking approval to implement some safety improvements at the intersection of Stud and Seebeck Roads.
