OUR BRANCH
The
first Australian Branch of the Richard III Society was founded in
Melbourne on 2nd October 1959. The Melbourne-based branch was the focus
for Australian Ricardians until the 1980’s when separate branches were
founded in the other Australian states and New Zealand.
Most of our branch activities are held in Victoria however we welcome
anyone residing interstate who is interested in being part of the
Melbourne-based group.
The Branch holds seven meetings during the year, at which talks are
given on matters of historical interest associated with Richard III,
his life and times. Open discussion is always a
feature of the meetings, which end with a supper provided by the
members. A Branch newsletter is published quarterly. The
first meeting of the year is always an informal “picnic day” giving us
an opportunity to catch up after the Christmas/New Year break.
Annual membership fees, which fall due in September each year, include
membership to the Society in England and subscription to their annual
magazine -The Ricardian – as well as their quarterly newsletter - "The
Bulletin".
