Comment:   I really dont know what to say about this issue. Injustice has become an unfightable disease which many of us have obtained through our mental ability. I really hope that Heather Osland is released soon because she deserves freedom. I'm only 15 but yet it seems like I have more knowlege and understanding of this issue than those who made the decision to put Heather Osland in jail. I offer up all my prayers to you. Bye bye.

Comment:   I am only 21 years of age and am currently in my third year of doing a Bachelor of Social Work and when reading your story it has inspired me to do my best and advocate for women's rights when I complete my course. I wish you the very best and you truly are an inspiration to women everywhere.

Comment:   I have just spent 3 months with Heather at Tarrengower.  She is one of the most caring and lovely people I have met.  Heather your case is so sad, yet you manage to have such a bright spirit and outlook on life.  Thank you for your light - it inspired me to look on the brighter side of my time.

Comment:   Dear Heather, I am so sorry to hear your story. I have two children, boys and my heart breaks to think of womyn and children in violence but it's everywhere. How do we stop it? That's what I'd like to know. You're an inspiration to mothers and womyn everywhere. I will teach my sons to always respect and love themselves and as an extension womyn. Love to you and strength. Carmen

Comment:   Heather, you are a woman to be admired.  You are so courageous, so strong, so loving and so supportive to others.  I have spent the last 8 months with you and you have absolutely taught me a thing or two about life and justice.  We will miss you but will definately see you when you are home.  Keep your chin up my love, you are such a special lady.  We love and pray for you.

Comment:   I am only 23 years old and I already know that the system fails women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Something has got to change.

Comment:   I learned of your story in a recent issue of The Big Issue. I was saddened and angered by your experience.  I have not experienced any of the horrors that you have, and I hope i never will. Your story opened my eyes to the abuse that exists, and that many women suffer, i thank you for rasing awareness (although i wish you did't have to) about an issue that is all to frequently brushed under the carpet. Best Wishes.

Comment:   If a man kills a woman and her children he gets only a few years behind bars. A woman kills out of self defence and look how long she gets. I believe that you did the right thing perhaps you should have done it sooner. If you had left him he would have only done it to someone else. You saved not only yourself and your kids from more abuse but god knows who else. Men and women like that should not be allowed to be in society EVER with the rest of us normal people. I hope and wish you and your kids well for the rest of the future it must have been hard on you all. Alot of people would say why didnt you leave him?? I also think the same but unless you are put in that situation you probably dont know what you would do... I hope you and your kids have a great life from now on and start enjoying it as if anyone deserves to be happy it is you guys. Anyone out there that does this stop and think about how you would feel if someone was beating the sh*t out of you.... this is a huge issue and I believe that it needs to be even more openly disscussed in Australia.

Comment:   I thought that this is a great site with lots of information to help students like me doing assignments in legal studies on family violence. Thanks.

Comment:   Hi Heather, I am glad I left before having the last resort of killing in self-defense. I have just left my (now ex) fiancee of 4 years after repeated abuse, physically, sexually, mentally, financially and emotionally. I have enough strength to run and hide. Melbourne is a huge place to disappear in and I have that advantage. I'm sorry that the government of today is so stupid and narrow minded. I am grateful for the support that is out there for yourself and women in abusive situations. It will never stop amazing me that both men and women take it upon themselves to destroy/rob another of self esteem in order to gain power. I can't wait for the new world. You will be in my prayers and I hope that women take your story on as an example of what is wrong and NOT acceptable.

Comment:   When will the Victorian Government ever realise what an injustice thay are doing by not releasing this innocent Lady. Come on Steve Bracks wake up to yourself and show the rest of Australia and for that matter the world that you are a man and not a weak politician. You should look at laws in the rest of Australia. There are men out there who get 3 or 4 years for murder that are released after less than their sentence. What are you hoping to achieve by the ongoing incarceration of this Lady who (along with her children) was beaten and punished by the man she murdered ( or was accused of murdering) Are you afraid of your political standing? I find your Government's role in this matter abhorant! Have a Happy New Year Mr Bracks. By the way, Heather will be locked in your prison system this time next year so rest assured you can sleep in peace.
