Comment: Dear Heather, Reading your guestbook again makes me feel good - because of so much support for you, and sad - that all the support given to you over the years had not swayed the authorities to give you the release from that "Funny Farm". However, you will see for yourself when studying your guestbook, how many people (across the globe) stood by you and prayed for you to stay strong... And from today, it's only 106 days left. I promise you that the countdown will go much faster now then 4 years ago. Look forward and put your mind in 'receiving' mode. Looking much forward in sharing that special "Apfelstreusselkuchen" with you. Soon, very soon, you will feel as a human being again... trust me. Your friend H. |

| Comment: I've just read the guestbook entries and discovered you are to be released in July this year, as another entry said - my thoughts will always be with you, also my wish that you can take peace and comfort from your family and friends. Thank you for your Christmas card, Heather, I will write - am so glad to share, finally, the good news of your release. Justice has not been served, you should never have been incarcerated and for such a long time - I cannot imagine ever forgetting what you have gone through. Much love to you, Tanya. |

Comment: I first came into contact with your story when I was studying Feminist History at Monash University in 2000 - you story is heart breaking but at the same time inspiring. Inspiring in the sense that no matter how a paternalistic state can oppress an individual they can remain strong, hold firm their beliefs and wake up in the morning believing there is a reason to continue living on this planet - that in itself is a wonderful thing.
One day soon I hope the law makers of this country will see the wrongs inherrent in the current murder and manslaughter leglisation and make moves to rectify them - it cannot come too soon.
When Rob Hulls the knocked back your appeal I was sad - sad for what it said about Victorian and Australian society, I wish things had of been different.
Here and now in February 2005 there are people whose thoughts turn to you, who recognise the natural injustice and are actively seeking change - like those on Robbin Island you are not forgotten,
Take care and keep on living |

| Comment: So few male signatories to the guestbook! But I don't suppose you would be suffering this injustice if there was gender balance. Best wishes. Stay strong. Don. |

| Comment: Hi I am a Children's Family Violence Worker and am disgusted with our governments and government departments that continually allow family violence to continue. It is not that easy to escape from an abusive relationship when threats are made against other family members. I wish Heather all the luck in the world. I don't believe Jail is the place for her. |

| Comment: Dear Heather, I have been studying your case in my legal studies class and I was so angry to read how you have been mistreated by our legal system. I hope that something can be done to change this and my thoughts are with you. You are very brave and your story has inspired me to keep studying law and I hope to help make sure that your story isn't repeated. Hang in there, love Ella |

| Comment: During my history project i read about your case in a book called 'Getting Equal'. I included your case in my project for abused women and their children. Hopefully anybody in your case would see that their husband or boyfriend is like that and leave straight away. People that do that don't love you only love pushing you around. To all the women out there like this, LEAVE AND DON'T LOOK BACK AND GO TO THE POLICE AND GET ACTION TAKEN, BECAUSE IT WILL BE GIVEN AND MOVE INTO ANOTHER TOWN AND CHANGE YOUR NAME IF HE CONTINUES TO STALK YOU AND YOU ARE THAT FEARFUL OF YOU LIFE. THINK OF YOU CHILDREN IF YOU HAVE ANY. Anybody that does this to their families does not deserve to live on God's earth. |

| Comment: I am a final year law student at Victoria University and Heather's case was discussed in criminal law. I did not realise she was still in prison and many of the students did not know either. Why not try for more Press and publicity. Later on the same day Mr. Justice Vincent gave a lecture I raised the issue of Heather Osland personally with him and he was not sympathetic. What about writing to each one of the Victorian judges some of them must be interested in justice and this dreadful situation. Best wishes. Ann Brownell |
