Comment: What has happened to Heather is unfair. She has been further victimised by the system. This is something that happens to many other women. We urgently need a reform in the legal system. I do not think this is going to happen unless women and their supporters organize and soon.

Comment: Hi my dear friend Heather, your countdown is now under the double figure (by weeks) and very soon it will be the countdown in a single figure (by days). I am looking sooooo much forward to seeing you in the normal world again. There are lots of things to catch-up to. We will have the opportunity to talk openly - no need to whisper anylonger and no need to feel stressed when your name is called. All those years, you always kept your 'head high', don't give in now....! A friend of yours!

Comment: I have been researching your case in my legal studies class adn after reading your story i was totally disgusted with our government and legal system. Your story has inspired me to continue to study law and to one day become a lawyer and hopefully never let what happen to you happen to anybody else. Hang in there, you will be free soon. Sally

Comment: Dear Heather, Your plight has touched me deeply. My sister suffered a controlling and abusive husband, when she left he killed her. Her husband claimed the defence of provocation and only got eight years. You were sentenced by a patriarchal system which had no understanding of domestic violence. Hopefully if "Defences to Homicide" report is accepted and excessive self defence goes through no woman in Victoria should ever have to endure what you have had to. Sorry these words can't convey how I feel about this injustice. Jane
