The Time  : New Year's Eve, 1944

The Place : The Rubens Hotel, London

The Lady  : Renata Dombrowska,
                     favourite chanteuse of the
                     Polish forces.

A poignant, funny and acutely observed memoir of a singer in exile adrift in a war-torn Europe.
Cabaret and history intertwine in the atmosphere of a Military Club, where young Polish airmen  spend time between dangerous missions, drinking vodka, playing cards and listening to the woman whose voice reminds them of their lost home.

Through the music of Noel Coward, Piaf, Deanna Durbin, Vera Lynn, Tino Rossi and other  greats, Renata  captures the moods of this time of turmoil.
