Scope of the Centennial
Project
General upgrading of the Docklands (currently Telstra stadium bike & walking
trail ends/begins) to Brimbank Park including Steele's Creek to a minimum standard
as agreed between participating stakeholders.*
- Distance markers at agreed intervals
Distance markers to reflect Rotary achievements over the last hundred years
Reflect both local & international achievements
- Community Information Boards
At the Docklands and Brimbank Park points community information boards containing
the following categories of information - Aboriginal history, general history,
bio-diversity, Rotary, info on the track
- Additional features as agreed between the stakeholders
Possible features include water points, rest benches, upgrading track for
the physically challenged, gazebos, landscaping
Objectives
To support Rotary International's request to commemorate 100 years of Rotary
Promote Rotary as a service organisation
Commemorate Rotary's achievements
To utilise the opportunity for a larger project and higher profile
Provide & upgrade the general standard along the trail so it can be accessed
and used by a larger proportion of the community
Stakeholders:
Rotary clubs of : Brimbank Central, Keilor, Keilor East,
Moonee Valley, Essendon North, Essendon, Maribyrnong Highpoint, Yarraville,
Footscray West, Footscray, Flemington, Melbourne, Melbourne North, Sunshine,
Tullamarine
City Councils: Brimbank, Moonee Valley, Maribyrnong &
Melbourne
Other: Parks Victoria, City West Water, Cycle Victoria
