A message from our President Richard Lewis Hello everyone, and welcome to the website for the Rotary Club of Langwarrin for 2005-2006. Over the coming months we will be adding more information on projects, events, club history and local news. July marked the beginning of the new Rotary year and a new Rotary century, after the celebrations this year of marking 100 years since the birth of Rotary. The main aim of Rotary International this year above all is to improve literacy around the world. To that end, we will endeavour to raise funds to service the local needs in and around Langwarrin. Last year was an excellent year - we raised funds for a Shelter Box for the tsunami appeal, we provided scholarships for the schools of Langwarrin and also provided funding for an indigenous scholarship scheme in the area. Not forgetting of course the success of the Easter Egg Hunt at McClelland Gallery, which was enjoyed by all, and hopefully should be bigger and better this year.
Finally, on July 11th we were proud to host the new District Governor, Ray Stewart (above right with President Richard), and Assistant District Governor Alan Byers at our dinner. Ray outlined his plans for the District for the coming Rotary year and it has to be said, motivated and inspired us all to celebrate Rotary. I hope you enjoy looking around our site. In this the Centenary year we need more Rotarians than ever and I encourage you to join us to help make a difference in the Langwarrin community and the world at large. See you round the table Richard |
