Rotary clubs are encouraged to prepare the New Generations - all young people up to the age of 30 years - by improving their life skills to ensure a better future, while recognising the diversity of their needs. Many Rotary projects support the fundamental needs of the New Generations namely health, human values, education and self-development. The structured programs of Rotary International for New Generations are:

  • Interact,

  • Rotaract,

  • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and

  • Youth Exchange.

Youth Exchange

This program promotes goodwill, peace and understanding through a socially interactive educational experience.  The Youth Exchange Committee promotes, manages and coordinates reciprocal twelve month secondary school exchanges between students aged 15 - 17 years, sponsored by a local Rotary Clubs and an overseas Club.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)

This is a week long residential personal development program for young people aged 18-25.  It provides an opportunity for young people from a diverse range of backgrounds to come together to gain a better understanding of their own strengths and the unique qualities and abilities of others.  The program is delivered by young people for young people.

The RYLA Committee is keen to attract indigenous and refugee participants.

RYPEN

Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment is a weekend residential seminar for young people aged 14 to 17.  The program's principle aim is the communication of a series of ideas, problems and social experiences that will assist the young participants in formulating their own values and moral standards.

MUNA

Model United Nations Assembly is a weekend program for year 11 students.  Clubs send two students who represent a country, and over the course of the assembly debate a number of resolutions.  Each team adopts the stance of the country they represent.  MUNA builds international understanding and expands student's knowledge of the working of the UN, and the countries they represent.

The National Youth Science Forum is the only program in Australia that offers students currently in Year 11 the chance to test-drive a wide range of universities and careers in the sciences.

The main objective is to ensure that every NYSF student is exposed to the widest possible range of study and career opportunities in science, technology and engineering so that they can make an informed choice.

RC of Kew on Yarra is sponsoring  Devrat Bhattacharya, a student from Melbourne High, to attend the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra.
