Club Administration.
I have asked Murray Chessell, and he has agreed to stay on as our club protection officer for the year.
Frank O’Sullivan is again acting as onto conference Chairperson and I have indicated to District that we anticipate 20 people to attend District conference, although I would love to see more members partake in what is a great weekend. I am sure that Launceston will be as good, if not better, than Shepparton and Canberra.
Frank O’Sullivan excelled again in his preparation for District Conference. We had 12 attend from the club, with the Minster and Kors Families having a pre-conference tour of Tasmania, organised by Frank. The conference was great, excellent speakers and overall program, a highlight being the Presidents cocktail party, in which we included members of the Daylesford and Glenferrie clubs as well as members of the Turkish GSE team, which saw some 30 people gather in our room for a wonderful time.
I listed six fellowship events that we have planned for the year and they are:
Bush Poet Dinner Function Picture night
Anniversary Dinner Xmas Function
Moonee Valley race night Function with Sister Club- Daylesford
At the start of the year, when the bush poets evening fell over, I was worried that we were going to be in for a tough year, however we have come back strongly. All the functions held by the fellowship committee have been an overwhelming success; Moonee Valley was a tremendous evening, as were the Xmas function, the picture night. We also had an excellent evening at QPO in which we dabbled with a little trivia. Whilst we did not hold a specific event with the RC of Daylesford, we did continue that relationship through GDF08 and the district conference, as mentioned earlier, they joined us for dinner at the district conference.
We also had the opportunity to be involved in the Indonesian night with the RC of Glenferrie. This was a huge success with an amazing amount of money raised by the 180 people that attended that evening, and importantly fun was had by all those that attended.
It is important to note that our clubs website has received some 36,000 hits throughout the year, and whilst the website itself is in some need of upgrading, we can be pleased with this level of interest in our club.
A number of successive boards have been looking at the Art Show equipment at its responsibility on us for maintenance and storage and an agreement was reached to sell these items. We have finally found a buyer and later this year the equipment will be taken by its new owners.
