Executive Administration.
Our club has been well managed over recent years by a group of committed Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurer. We have met our executive administrative obligations with Consumer Affairs. Treasurer Jonathan Shepherd and I have a budget prepared for the year, hence the setting of our annual fees at $335 and the decision to retain our meal fee at $27. The decision to retain the meal fee at $27, despite the recent rise from Kew Golf Club which sees the cost to us as $27 per meal, is done so mindful of the key objectives in this planning guide; particularly the desire to address the weekly attendance percentages. Therefore maintaining the cost to members is an inducement to encourage members to come to weekly meetings.
I believe the decision to keep the weekly meeting cost as low as we could for members, may have contributed to our positive increase in weekly attendances. The treasurer’s report also indicates that our budget process for the year was effective and we managed the clubs expenses effectively.
The accounting process has been a source of frustration for many on the board, therefore we agreed to move towards a different accounting program, and this is in the process of being affected. The Rotary designed program does not seem to provide an effective and simple set of accounts for easy reference at board level, hence the move to a more suitable program.
I think it important to thank Jonathan Shepherd here, as his efforts as our treasurer have been exceptional. With the number of activities that we have been involved in throughout the year, the turnover and sheer workload for the treasurer has been immense and Jonathan’s efforts, assisted by Ron McCartney, have been above and beyond. Thank you Jonathan.
