Hogans Road Shelter

During the 1980s Club members built a b-b-q area with picnic shelter for the use of local residents on Hogan's Road, Hoppers Crossing next to the Sports Club. In the last twelve months a very fine addition has been made to this picnic area through the construction of a sturdy shelter over the b-b-qs to afford protection from sun, wind and rain and effectively render the b-b-q area completely operational in all weathers.
The erection of this construction was made possible through Wyndham City Council's partnership grant scheme. From the Rotary Club's perspective two Club members deserve very special thanks for their work on this project - President-Elect Charlie Galea and Bob Metselaar. Bob Clemmens, John Casey, Robin Mills and Bob Fairclough also gave a great deal of time and other Club members attended working bees for painting, landscaping and work associated with storm water collection.
This was an excellent example of Council working with the service clubs in our community to enhance and improve the amenities in Wyndham. The shelter was officially handed over to Councillors Mark Rose and Henry Barlow at a b-b-q on 12 January to which local residents were also invited. It is our fervent hope that thousands of residents each year will take advantage of this amenity on their doorstep and enjoy fellowship over food in that spot.
