Last year the Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing held its Inaugural Art Exhibition and Sale. With the proceeds of that event we purchased a wonderful painting by local Point Cook artist, Sue Anderson (below). Entitled "Rosellas", it depicts the challenges suburban growth places on the natural environment and features two rosellas perched on a wire above a stylized city landscape at night. The rosellas can be seen to represent the tension between the natural and built environments.
"Rosellas" was presented to Councillor Peter Hawkins, (above) representing the City of Wyndham during the Opening Night of the Westpoint Ford and Kia 2005 Rotary Art Exhibition and Sale to celebrate Rotary International's Centenary Year. The painting will be hung in a prominent public position where it can be enjoyed by the citizens of the City of Wyndham. We hope it will be the first of many in our effort to create a public art collection, our legacy to the people of Wyndham for posterity.
