Some of our Projects:
Rotary Liver-
Installation of Water Tanks in Developing Countries: Since 1990, our member Peter McGrath, with assistance of other members, has performed voluntary work in PNG, Western Samoa, Kiribati , East Timor etc. They have constructed many schools and in recent years have been installing water tanks and associated plumbing in these areas.
Assistance to East Timor: Our member Daryl Mills left for East Timor on 5 December

Financial Assistance to Local Charities: Substantial funds have been provided annually to many recognised local charitable institutions from our Club's Community Service Trust.
Exchange Students: Footscray Rotary has been involved with Rotary's Exchange Student
program since 1965 and has sent and received over 40 students for a year's study
in various countries -
In 2003 we hosted 18 year old Adriane Tartare from Florianopolis (Brazil). Evan Clarence
from Hoppers Crossing returned in January 2004 after a year's exchange in Brazil.

Doug Mills Memorial Scholarship: A two-
Doug Mills Vocational Service Award: Recommended to the Board by the Vocational
Service Chairman -
Lawrence & Margaret Atley Music Scholarship: Awarded to a promising music student
who is up to 16 years of age to further the student’s music studies. $1,000 plus
a framed certificate. This scholarship honours Lawrence Atley and wife Margaret.
Lawrence (inducted to our club in 1972) has been one of our foremost members. He
was our club’s second District Governor (1989-
John H Kerr Community Service Award: In memory of John H Kerr who inaugurated these
awards in 1976. A task that needs doing in the community and getting it done is a
challenge met daily by many dedicated community members, usually with no reward except

Voluntary Dental Treatment in Developing Countries: Annually since 1983 our member Dr Jamie Robertson has lead a team of dentists and support staff to Philippines, Tibet, India and Vietnam to provide dental; services to people whose
Problems would have been untreated without their intervention. The project has concentrated on Vietnam since 1991.
