Discovering Richmond's real secrets
and hidden treasures are better found by walking around the area.
Moving away from the main shopping strips and following the walking
guides you will be amazed to find the cobbled lanes, cottages, mansions,
factories and remnants of Richmond's colourful past. With stories of
entrepreneurs, industrialists, leaders, craftsmen, inventors, artists,
politicians, pubs, sport and crime, you will find these absolutely fascinating
as you turn each corner of Richmond's back streets.

- Docker's Hill Walk - discover the area of Richmond's first land
sales and the site of Clifton Village. You will pass the sites of
Richmond's first hotel, candle works, chemists, politicians and gangsters. The
hill is the location of many fine churches and marvelous buildings which reflect
some of Richmond's former glory.
- Bridge Road Walk - Bridge Road with its' multitude of fashion
outlets and cafes is a buzz with activity and life. Many of original building
facades can still be seen as a reminder of the street's early traders. This walk
takes you from Punt Road to Church Street and describes many of the early shops
and businesses operating in the late 1800's.
- Bridge Road Pubs Walk - Richmond had more than 40 pubs over time,
with may changing hands and locations as the city grew. They provided favourite
watering holes for the locals and travelers, accommodation and meals. Each one
has incredible stories to tell. This walk focuses on Bridge Road and covers the
hotels from Punt Road to Hawthorn Bridge.
Guided Walks are conducted as part of our annual program and can be
arranged by request.
These include areas such as 'The Barkley Garden's Precinct',
'Yarraberg and the Racecourse' 'The Secrets of Swan Street' and 'Richmond's Yarra River'.
