(The following text (in e-mail form) was received from Neil Horn, who attended the above parade)
The parade for Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal at Simpson Barracks on Wednesday was outstanding. We as a Corps are just so fortunate to have such a grand lady as our Colonel in Chief.
The Corps Museum is a sight to behold if you are in Melbourne and don't go out to visit Simpson Barracks if only for the Museum then you make a great mistake.
There is more. Those of us who know the trials of getting the School to Watsonia Barracks all had good reason to be pleased when it was done. The foyer of the School became grander as new treasures were acquired and hung. Hanging the first Corps Painting, the Signalman, was no easy task. Well if we thought that was good and the 50th Anniversary and many other things we just need to go stand in the foyer of the Army Communication Centre today and at any time in the future.
The spectacle is amazing - The foyer with a raised ceiling, light bright walls and modern lighting is almost beyond belief. The Corps treasures, the paintings, the Banner all look more spectacular than real life and that can't be true but it is.
The "School" did a wonderful job on the day and everyone involved deserves the heartiest congratulations.
But the foyer and its treasures are the ultimate. If you go to Melbourne and you think you might go out to Simpson Barracks to see the Museum then don't because as good as it is the Museum pales when you have the opportunity to stand in the foyer and view the treasures.
It is a great Royal Australian Corps of Signals and the reminders of that at Simpson Barracks do us all proud.
