*THE FAR-DISTANT OXUS*

You may have heard vaguely of this book and wondered about it. It was written by two teenage girls, Pamela Whitlock and Katherine Hull, and is recommended by all who enjoy AR's writing. AR wrote a long foreword for the book and encouraged the girls in their writing.
The story concerns the activities of some young people who are holidaying without parents on a farm in Exmoor, Somerset. The 'Oxus' is a fictitious local river. They go everywhere on horseback, and meet a mysterious boy, Maurice.
This popular book has been out of print for a long time, but now Fidra Books have acquired the rights to produce the book, and are going to re-publish it. You can get more details from their blog; www.fidrabooks.co.uk/blog/. Their website is at www.fidrabooks.co. and their snail mail adrress is Fidra Books Ltds, 60 Craignook Road, Edinburgh, EH4 3PJ. Their phone number is 0131 343 3118 Approach them directly if you wish to purchase a copy of the book.

Cheers, David.
