Meet 11.30am for coffee/tea, Start Walk at 12 noon

Start:

Met at the carpark on the west side (main shops side) at Ashburton Station at 11.30am. Bring tea/coffee if you wish. There are toilets at the station.

We follow the Anniversary Trail tracking the old historic Outer Circle Railway from Ashburton, via East Camberwell, to Whitehorse Road in Deepdene. The distance is about 7km, and the walking part of the journey will take about 2 hours. The trail is paved and easy walking. There are regular sign boards which tell the story of the Outer Circle Railway, and we pass under 4 historic bridges.

We will have lunch at Frog Hollow Reserve in Fordham Avenue in Camberwell, very near the Willison Station. So you will need to bring your lunch with you. People who are not walking can join us there for lunch, where there is a carpark, tables and chairs, and toilets (have to check they will be open on Saturdays). We should be at Frog Hollow around 1.00pm, and will start walking again about 1.45pm. We should reach Deepdene by 2.45 or 3.00pm.

To return to Ashburton, we will take the tram from the corner of Whitehorse Rd and Burke Rd down to Camberwell Station, and then take the train back to Ashburton.

Return:

Upon return to Ashburton, you are all invited to the Johnson’s house at 2 Lavender Court, Ashwood for celebratory drinks for Judy’s 60th Birthday which actually occurs on 10 November, 2009.
