An Introduction to the Queensville Estate...

The Queensville Estate is a small area of the City of Maribyrnong, a western suburb of Melbourne, Australia.

 Initially planned for development as the Queensville Estate in 1888, the area developed over the the following two decades into what is recognisable today as Kingsville.

 This web site plans to provide residents and other interested people with a historical resource which can give an overview of the general history of the area. It also provides a database by which residents can find the original owners of their own houses.

The following map shows the general area of Footscray in 1850. Clicking on it will provide an enlarged version of the map.

The following "Locality Plan" was produced in July, 1888. It shows a section of the sub-division and was used to help advertise the sale of land in the area (click for enlargement):
