Mike Keefe

He started turning at the age of 14 years at school but after 40+ years of not seeing or thinking of woodturning, it was getting near time to consider what he was going to do in retirement. He had started to paint in oils and watercolour but then saw a lathe for sale and that was the end of painting.

Woodturning started to take over his life and he could not find all the time he needed to spend at the lathe.

Eleven years ago he joined the Peninsula Woodturners Guild where one could say he learnt his trade watching woodturners such as Vic Wood and Stephen Hughes plus the number one turners we have in our Guild.

He says he is still learning. he is aged 69
