Geoff O'Loughlin

Geoff O'Loughlin Born 1923, Married Joan 1956, 1 son, 1 daughter, 3 grandchildren.

He holds the degrees of B.Ag.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. from University of Melbourne and he worked in CSIRO {Div. of Forest Products} and as a research scientist at the Victorian Plant Research Inst, 1947-83.

During 30 years of painting as a hobby, he held seven exhibitions in Melbourne, with work purchased by the galleries of three states. Other involvements have been in making bronze sculptures, stained glass windows and copper enamelling.

Activities included white water kyaking,and competing in sailboard racing and motor cycle trials.

An early passion for restoring old cars and motor cycles moved on to collecting early keyboard instruments, antique brass microscopes, clocks, and watchmaker's lathes.

In 1991 Joan got Alzheimer's disease, and he says that providentially at that time, he discovered the woodturners of the P.W.G. whose fellowship has added greatly to his feelings of gratitude for a life full of interests and good friends.
