
Denis was born in Derbyshire, England, in 1932 and left school at 14 years of age to become an apprentice carpenter.
On completing his apprenticeship. he spent 2 years in Germany on National Service. In 1955 he took up his first teaching post and taught for 33 years. The students ranged from 11 - 18 years old school pupils, carpentry and joinery trade students and also mentally impaired youngsters.
He accepted early retirement and worked for himself making furniture on commission.
In 199 he came to Australia with his wife to join his two children and their families.
He now works part time in a sheltered workshop in the woodwork department.
