Since 1988 the orchestra has held an annual Youth Concerto Competition which aims to give young musicians the opportunity to play a concerto with a symphony orchestra.

Our congratulations to Adele Xiang, winner of the 22nd Youth Concerto Competition. Adele played Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations for Cello and was awarded first prize by adjudicator Phillip Miechel.

2010 Youth Concerto Competition

The Competition is open to players of orchestral instruments and piano
who are 18 or under on 1st July 2010.

Further details of entry dates and requirements will be posted early in 2010. Please revisit then.

Entries may be sent by email to dilks@netspace.net.au providing your
Name, Address, Date of Birth, Telephone No., Instrument, Teacher, Accompanist, Name of Work (movements and duration)

The total duration of the movements chosen should be less than 20 mins.
If the total programme is too long the orchestra reserves the right to shorten this.

The audition will be about 7 mins. You can elect to audition a specific movement
otherwise the adjudicator may select specific passages.

There is a fee of $5 which may be paid at the audition
