Probus Club of Melbourne North Inc. Victoria

Information continued.

Visitors

Spouses and guests of members are welcome at all Club meetings and other activities, and at the same cost, if any, as members pay. Any person interested in learning more about Probus is invited to attend a regular monthly meeting, without any obligation, and as a guest of the Club.

Fees

It is the Club's policy (and embodied in its constitution) that all activities will be conducted at the lowest practicable cost to members. There is a joining fee of $15 to pay for stationery, a name badge and a lapel pin or brooch. Currently, the annual subscription is $30. The Club's financial year commences on the 1st of March but a person joining pays only the pro-rata amount for the unexpired portion of the financial year. There is no separate charge for publications. Organised social activites (outside of monthly meetings) that require a payment (e.g. for bus hire) are priced to recoup the estimated costs and not to generate profit.

Special Interest Groups

The club encourages the formation of groups of members having common interests. Small groups presently share their interest in movies, live theatre visits and jazz.

Lunches and Outings

Lunches and outings alternate on the second Tuesday of each month. We visit a wide range of carefully selected restaurants that provide quality meals at a modest price. Outings to a place of interest, which might occupy a morning or a full day, always include a luncheon together. Both lunches and outings are well supported.

Annual Trip Away

Each year, Club members (and friends) go for a four day holiday. Past trips have taken members to Marysville, Swan Hill, Bright, Lakes Entrance, French Island, the Snowy Mountains, Broken Hill and Mungo National Park, the Gold Fields Area of Victoria, to Colac, the Otway National Park and the beach resort on the Great Ocean Road, to the Loddon Shire in Central Victoria,to Warrnambool, and most recently to Corowa, Chiltern and Yarrawonga. These places are used as bases for tours of the surrounding country side by chartered coach.
