Our Aims and Objectives

  • To maintain an association of those interested in the origin, history and development of the Priar, Prier, Prior, Pryar, Pryer and Pryor families.

  • To circulate a regular newsletter dealing with matters of topical interest and current genealogical and biographical research into the above families.

  • To promote the conservation of documents, monuments and other material of special significance to these families.

  • To research and collect information relevant to these families and make it available to members of the Society.

  • To hold occasional meetings at places of special interest to these families.
  • Our Records

    The Society has records relating to many thousands of bearers of the surnames world-wide. The majority of these are held on a computer database.

    They include relevant entries from the International Genealogical Index; extracts from the General Register Office Indexes of births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales (1837 – 1900); extracts from the 1881 U.K. Census.

    Newsletter

    Our newsletter, ‘Family Connections, is issued four times a year (March, June, September and December).

    It includes a variety of articles relevant to the surname; details of developments within the Society; members’ queries; letters etc.

    Membership

    We currently have over 200 members world-wide.

    Membership runs from April to March and is open to anyone with an interest in the surname.

    There is an annual membership fee.

    U.K. £5.00, Europe £6.00, Australia $16, New Zealand $21, United States $11, 
    Canada $15, Rest of World £9.00

    Members joining part way through a membership year receive all four newsletters for that year.
