Missions
From
its inception the PRC has always had a burden to go into all the world
and preach the Gospel. Though the extent of this has been constrained
by the small size of the denomination, contact and missionary work has extended
at various times as far afield as Lithuania, Kenya, Philippines, New Zealand,
Chile, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu.
In 1969 the Church sent its first missionary
to New Hebrides (now Vanuatu). Through the grace of God and their labours,
true churches have been established there and the New Testament has been translated
into two indigenous languages.
This highlights the emphasis of the missionary work which is on the teaching of the Word of God to the conversion of souls leading to the establishment of self sustaining indigenous churches. To this end the translation of the Scriptures to the indigenous language is a primary means so that the people can have the Word of God in their own tongue.
The PRC seeks to preach the Gospel wherever the Lord opens the door. At times we have provided a regular ministry in places remote from a PRC congregation by means of video and audio sermon tapes from various congregations, supplemented by occasional pastoral visits.
Our desire is
to see the Gospel spread for the conversion of men and women, leading to the
establishment of churches which will worship God in sincerity and in truth.

"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" 2 Corinthians 10:5
The College was established in 1968 under the oversight of the Presbytery of the PRC. It was officially called the John Knox Theological College in February 1973, and remains as the principal means of training students for the ministry and the missionfield in the PRC. Such students are ordinarily elders in a local PRC congregation, however others are welcome to study with the College for their own edification, and preparation for the possibility of a future call.
The Principal of the College is apponted by Presbytery, and is also a practising minister within a congregation of the PRC. Lecturers are all ministers or ruling elders of the denomination. The College is completely under the authority and jurisdiction of the PRC.
The College operates from a building in Sydney.
Library and lecture facilities have been established there. However it is
not a residential college. Many of the lecturers do not reside in Sydney,
and the College has students from many locations. Hence the College employs
a method known as "extension education". Each student studies with
fellow students within the geographic and pastoral bounds of their own parish.
Lectures are provided on cassette (audio and/or video) as provided by the
lecturer. Students in the Sydney area attend lectures at the College.
Subjects offered include: Apologetics, Church History, Greek, Hebrew, Linguistics, Missionary Principles, New Testament, Old Testament, Pastoral Theology, and Systematic Theology.

Early in the 1970's the PRC established a printing press to publish Reformed and Scriptural material. Located originally in Brisbane, Covenanter Press has subsequently relocated to the Sydney area. It produces a monthly publication - The Protestant Review - speaking forthrightly on current issues in the light of the Reformed faith. It has also produced The Covenanter - a series of weekly lessons for use in Sunday Schools over a 6 year cycle.
Covenanter Press also publishes a large number of books and leaflets.
